The Paluxy Baptist Church was organized May 2, 1857 by William M. (Choctaw Bill) Robinson with eight charter members. Paluxy was one of the churches organizing the Brazos River Association in October 1858. The church was represented by the pastor, William Robinson, G. Mills, and W.E. Shelby. It seems to have cooperated with this association until 1869, when the Bosque River Association was organized on Saturday before the second Sabbath in November at Paluxy. Eight churches from Bosque, Erath, Comanche, Hamilton, and Hood Counties were represented in this organization. Paluxy was represented by W.H. Pate, J.F. Wood, and W. Gunnels. There was a great spirit of revival at the Sunday services, and all expected a great meeting of this first session of the new association. But that night Indians raided within a mile of the church and drove off a good many horses. Messengers appeared at the church on Monday morning with guns. Necessary business was quickly attended to, committees were instructed to report at the next annual meeting, the meeting was adjourned, and messengers hastened to their homes to protect their loved ones. Paluxy was not represented at the organization of Paluxy Association in 1880, but messengers from Paluxy were received at the meeting at Shady Grove [Mambrino] in 1882. Elder E. Blanton was pastor. Other messengers were W.H Pate, E. Flinn, E. Barbee, and William King. The early meeting places were the school house and brush arbors. The first church house was built in 1900 on land donated by Mr. W.S. Ethridge, a merchant in the village. The lumber was hauled from Bluff Dale by Mr. Frank McBrayer and Mr. W.S. Wilson. A very attractive building was constructed and served for many years. This building finally burned, and a white masonry building followed. About 1958 or 1959 a frame building was purchased from the Antioch Church and moved to the church grounds. Another fire and another building program and the church now has a new education building and parsonage. In 2011 C. Jeffrey Bise was called as pastor. Brother Jeff's theme is from 1 Corinthians 1:18, "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." Day 1 of PBC’s Mission Week is in the books! We worked at Hope Moves this morning and at the church this afternoon to help prepare for VBS. It wouldn’t be a day without swim time. We will be meeting up at Hope Moves at 10am in the morning. Come join us tomorrow as we continue Missions Week!

He made an agreement that if we raised $1,750 for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering that he would kiss a goat. We raised over $2,000 to go out to the mission field! Praise God!

I tried to take a selfie with the kids this morning during Children’s time...I couldn’t fit all of the kids in the picture! We also had 60 people in our worship service this morning! God is so good!

We surpassed our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal of $1,750 with the largest LMCO offering ever at PBC. We raised $1,875. Thank you for your support for foreign missions. Our Missions Pastor, Jason Moreno, will be holding up his end of the bargain and will kiss a goat right before our 3rd Sunday lunch on 2/17/19. You won’t want to miss this so make sure you join us on the 3rd Sunday. 🐐 🐐 🐐

Here is the latest on our brother Lonnie Musick from Laurie: Lonnie is experiencing challenges today with asthma, fluid levels in his body and lungs. Please lift him in prayers for God's healing mercies according to His plan for Lonnie and his family. Scheduled GI scopes are on hold for now. They are changing his medications and care plan as needed.
Our children will be performing their long awaited Christmas play during the 11am worship service on December 9th. Please make sure you’re there to support our kids who have worked so hard on this play! Sunday School begins at 9:45am!
Please keep Lonnie and Glynda Musick and their family in your prayers. Lonnie is in the hospital in Fort Worth with double pneumonia and other blood issues.

It’s been a busy weekend at PBC. We had 31 people participate in the Christmas Parade Friday night and 19 people participate in the Hope Moves outreach on Saturday.
